Catching up - January

Being sure to get caught up before Tate gets here…Here's January!

January brought a change to my schedule as I began my temporary job as a fill in teacher at Dawson's Day School. Penelope and I enjoy the routine of having somewhere to go several days a week.

We took a little hunting trip down to Alex City for the MLK holiday weekend. Michael was successful in his hunt and the kids and I enjoyed being in the woods for a weekend. We enjoyed a little hike to a nearby stream too. We hope to visit down there more often to do more exploring because we had so much fun.

Penelope had a double ear infection which she handled quite well and recovered from quickly.

We had a snow adventure at the end of the month. We only had a possible dusting predicted for our area. Instead, the temps stayed lower than expected and the snow fell harder and longer than expected and our city SHUT DOWN. I spent several hours on the road getting to Kai at school and then getting myself and the kids home. Michael took much longer to get home from work and then ventured back out to rescue his mom from spending the night in her car at a nearby shopping center parking lot. Nanna spent the night with us but was able to get home the next day. We were able to bundle up and enjoy the snow some. Penelope was not a fan. I had a little trouble maneuvering on the slippery melting snow in my pregnant state. We enjoyed the time off from work and school though!

These two can really have a lot of fun together.
Penelope more and more tries to do whatever Kai does.

CHEESE!!!

Putting on shoes with daddy.
Anytime anyone goes to put on shoes, she runs to get hers too.
She doesn't want to be left out or left behind!

Kai loving the great outdoors

Fun exploring at the creek

Enjoying the beautiful weekend at "the camp"

They only snow shot we got. Kai would have stayed out all day if we'd let him. Penelope wanted to go right back in.
