Back to School 2015 and Goodbye Savannah?!

Our last day before school started back was spent at the beach and having dinner with dear friends. A nice close to a relaxing summer. August 6th meant the start of Second Grade for this guy.

New backpack, uniform ready, book to read on the bus ride, he is ready!

And Kai back to school means a shift in what our days look like at home with these two munchkins. Mommy gets to get back in a walking routine in the mornings. Tate is down to two naps and I'm hoping to coordinate their afternoon naps to run at the same time and have them up and rested in time to go get Kai from the bus stop. Penelope gets some one on one time in the morning while Tate naps. Maybe we can have some potty training success???

Playing at the table with some new toys she got as an early birthday gift in the mail. Ready to paint nails!

Happy guy anytime he's eating. He eats anything and everything we put in front of him.
Two days of school and then we got to have some overnight visitors!! The Baugher 3 fam came up to see us so that we could celebrate Penelope and Esther's birthday together.

Waiting up for the cousins to arrive!

The birthday girls!

Cousin swimming fun!

Mischievous little brother climbing on Penelope's new tricycle

Birthday at the beach. A fun morning with our little family.

She also got this fishing pole and had a good time practicing throwing it.
Our first full week of school we were into our routines a little better. (We almost missed the bus the first few days…) I got to spend a lovely day with the MOPS leadership team preparing for the upcoming year. What a blessing to be a part of this leadership team. Loving having sweet mommas to walk this journey with. We had friends over to play and celebrated a friend's birthday at the pool one afternoon.

My traveling crew every morning and afternoon waiting on the bus.

We've made a valiant attempt at potty training but she's just not quite getting it yet… but she likes to be silly!

Early mornings are hard to get used to again!

She gets a gummy treat when she successfully uses the potty. She was sharing with Big Dolly. What a sweetie.

This guy is getting into everything and does not want to be left out of anything.
Week Three of August brought an extreme plot twist into Armstrong life. Through a rapid series of events we decided on a short timeline that we were going to move our little family back to Birmingham. So many wonderful things to mourn about leaving Savannah. So many things to be excited about to be moving back to our home. No time to really be sad or excited! Job searching, planning, and packing, oh my. With about a week and a half before we wanted to transition, we tried to cram as much in as possible as we said goodbye to this home in Savannah, and all the things and places and friends we would miss.

One last trip to walk around Fort Pulaski

Making the best of a Saturday evening power outage and big thunderstorm

Penelope soaking up some Bible reading with her "fashfight" while the power was out.

Since the power was out, but the storm had passed, we decided to go downtown and stroll around one last time =(

We enjoyed this so much during our time here.

One last visit to the Jacksonville Zoo! (And a very short visit with cousins while there. Tate and I stayed home after a bit of a stomach bug scare.)
We had a wonderful final night with our community group from church. Amazing friends we are so sad to leave! Then Kai started complaining of a sore throat and missed basically his last week of school while we hoped to be better and then had to go to the doctor to find out he had an ear infection and pink eye while Penelope had her three year check up. We know how to pack in the fun! Ha. Then one final play date for me and the little kids with our MOPS friends which we will also miss so terribly! The Lord really blessed us with some amazing people around us during our time here and we are so grateful for the time we had even if it was shorter than we had planned.

These are two kids that cannot wait to get back to Birmingham and all of our family. Our last night in Savannah sleeping on mattresses on the floor. Things here they will miss too but they really do seem to understand all we are going back to and are excited about it.

Loaded down in our two vehicles, headed back to B'HAM in...

Sweet Home

Ready for the adventure that awaits...
