"Summer" has been busy! I put summer in quotes, because when you don't have school aged children and don't work in a school, summer is hotter, but really not any different other than that for us. But we were so busy that we didn't even find much time for picture taking!
At the end of May we sold Michael's truck. With him being at home with Kai and us not being involved in many activities, we really did not have the need (nor the budget) for a second vehicle. For the most part, this has been an easy transition. Certainly there are some days when it would be nice to have a 2nd car. We found the savings more valuable than the convenience.
In the first few days, it seemed to make the most sense for the boys to get up and take me to work so they could have the car during the day. We have changed that philosophy as the weeks progressed. In that first week, Kai found his inner Hannah when it came to being in the car in traffic and car sickness became a daily past time. We have determined that if Kai is tired (we were having to wake him to take me to work) and hungry (whether he ate or not, he was getting sick, so I guess this is not entirely relevant) and you make him ride in stop and go traffic for about 40 minutes, he WILL get sick.
Having experienced car sickness all of my life, I began to try to think how we might help him and prevent him from feeling bad. The solution was for them to take me to work but then go to breakfast somewhere close to my office before making the trip back home. By splitting it up, Kai was able to regain his equilibrium and not throw up in the car. A fairly easy fix thankfully. Getting car sick is no fun and I hope maybe he will grow out of it and not have to deal with it all his life like his momma.
Kai also got to take swimming lessons! He enjoyed it and I think it helped him to be more comfortable in the water and get a good introduction to the basics. We were able to do private lessons at the YMCA. I really think if he had been in a class he would have been too distracted to learn anything.
We also celebrate a lot of family birthdays in the summer and Kai LOVES to spend time with his cousins and thinks he is as big as all of them. He is the baby on the Armstrong side of the family and everybody just seems to not be able to help but to spoil him.
Here are a couple of pictures of our silly boy goofing off at home...
Next up....3rd annual 4th of July weekend with the Steele family!
